Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Countryside 2nd generation

LEADER cooperation project “Sustainable Entrepreneurship In Countryside” 2016-2019 was launched for developing of micro enterprises and community in countryside of eight local action groups in Estonia, Finland and Latvia. In the end of 2019, a new cooperation contract was signed to continue with project “SEIC 2nd generation – for improved sustainable livelihoods in countryside”. It consists of two independent transnational cooperation projects – one in Estonia and one in Finland (in Finland funded by Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of South-Eastern and Central Finland) – and Latvian cooperation with other means. There are also joint activities of the cooperation partners, including transnational exchange of rural entrepreneurs.

The main goal will remain the same as last period: to engage entrepreneurs in international cooperation for developing services and exchanging experiences and marketing know-how. Even if special focus is no longer on young entrepreneurs young people are encouraged also to participate in entrepreneur exchanges, and creating marketing networks between the regions.

AIM OF THE PROJECT IS TO SUPPORT THE SUSTAINABILITY OF RURAL MICRO ENTERPRISES THROUGH INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

  • Develop international rural/periurban products and services joint offers and joint marketing to those offers, using innovative technology and social interregional marketing
  • Encourage young people and younger generation of the project target enterprises to stay in rural areas and become economically sustainable

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Opening seminar
  • Transnational exchanges of rural entrepreneurs – they will be given the opportunity to learn new skills, change experiences and know-how, gather new ideas to improve businesses and products/services development, changing export-import contacts, etc
  • Trainings – workshops
  • Study-trips
  • Production of marketing materials

TARGET GROUP OF THE PROJECT ARE LOCAL PEOPLE IN PARTNER AREAS

  • Rural/periurban NGO-s, who are offering or planning to offer local products or services
  • Rural/periurban local food entrepreneurs (local food raw materials and processed products)
  • Sustainable family based rural/periurban tourism entrepreneurs and NGOs
  • Rural/periurban handicraft entrepreneurs and NGO-s
  • Farm or village shops with local products and linked services (cafe etc)

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project was managed by project managing committee, formed by 2 members from each participating LAG. There were 16 members in the leading committee – Heiki Vuntus and Eha Paas from LAG Development Centre, Tiina Sergo and Merle Pussak from East-Harju Partnership, Aino Viinapuu and Annika Parm from Green Riverland, Jussi Pakari from Linnanseutu, Eliisa Vesisenaho from Pirkan Helmi, Marjo Tolvanen and Heidi Hansen from Sepra, Līga Švānberga and Sanda Lakutijevska from Lielupe and Vilis Bruveris from Liepaja. Leading partner was Development Centre.

Sustainable tourism development

Transnational Leader cooperation project “Sustainable tourism development“ 2017-2020 focuses on supporting the sustainability of sustainable tourism enterprises and three level networking between national park/protected areas through transnational cooperation.

 

PARTNERS

All project activities will be implemented in following areas

PARTICIPANTS

Target group of the project is sustainable tourism providers in different regions, including:

  • Rural/periurban any kind of tourism entrepreneurs and NGO-s (including handicraft, catering, museums, shops etc), who are offering or planning to offer sustainable tourism services
  • Rural/periurban artistic entrepreneurs (art, music etc)
  • Nature guides
  • National parks, protected areas, national environmental organisations, local authorities, clusters
  • Inhabitants from protected area

AIM OF THE PROJECT IS TO SUPPORT THE SUSTAINABILITY OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM ENTERPRICES AND THREE LEVEL NETWORKING THROUGH INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION:

  • Develop a transnational sustainable tourism products/services joint offer, including introduction to regional quality system of EUROPARC organisation, and joint marketing to this offer, using innovative technology and from people to people, mouth to mouth methods;
  • To develop 3 level (own region, project regions in own country and transnational partner regions in 4 countries) networking and joint marketing with different type of sustainable tourism partners.
